A bathroom remodel in Dallas typically costs about 6,380 to 17,216 dollars in published market data, with an average near 11,582. Small guest baths run about 8,000 to 14,000, mid-range full renovations 15,000 to 30,000, and master baths 20,000 to 35,000 or more. Moving plumbing on a slab and damage under the floor move the number most.

Why Dallas prices run above the Texas average
Dallas remodel pricing runs roughly 10 to 15 percent above the Texas state average, mostly because experienced remodel labor is in demand here. A bathroom is mostly labor: demolition, plumbing, waterproofing, tile setting and finish work, each done in sequence by someone who knows the trade.
The house matters too. Roughly one Dallas home in seven was built before 1950, and older homes are far more likely to have problems behind the walls. The city also sits on Blackland Prairie clay that moves with the seasons, which shows up in bathrooms as cracked tile, soft floors and slabs that need attention before new tile goes down.
The five things that move a bathroom quote most
Finish choices get the attention, but these five items explain most of the gap between two quotes for the same room.
- Moving plumbing. On a slab, each moved fixture runs about 2,000 to 8,000 dollars in market data.
- What is under the floor. Subfloor reinforcement around an old tub or toilet often adds 300 to 800 dollars.
- The shower. An acrylic surround, a tiled shower with a pan and a curbless build sit in three different bands.
- Tile size and pattern. Large-format and herringbone layouts take longer to set.
- Electrical. New circuits, recessed lights or heated floors add a permit and inspection.

Call nowWhat permits add to a Dallas bathroom budget
Cosmetic work in Dallas, such as paint, tile or a vanity swap with no plumbing or electrical changes, does not need a permit. Moving or adding fixtures needs plumbing and building permits, electrical changes need an electrical permit, and adding a bathroom needs all three with a layout plan.
Permit fees for bathroom work in Dallas typically run about 50 to 700 dollars depending on scope. The bigger cost is time: the inspections have to fit into the schedule, which is one reason a layout change takes longer than a same-layout refresh. See layout changes for how that plays out.
Where the money is worth spending
Spend on the parts you never see. A properly sloped and flood-tested shower pan, a waterproofing membrane on every wet wall, a new valve while the wall is open and a fan ducted outside are what decide whether the bathroom is still sound in fifteen years.
Save on the parts you can change later. Light fixtures, mirrors, hardware and paint can all be upgraded without touching the wet area. A mid-range porcelain tile set well will outlast an expensive tile set badly.

How to read a bathroom remodel quote
A good quote separates two things: the fixes the room needs and the finishes you are choosing. If rot, a failed pan or corroded pipe is found, it should appear as its own line, not buried in the tile price, so you can see why the number is what it is.
Ask what the quote assumes about the floor and the plumbing, which items are allowances, and whether permits and inspections are included. A quote written before anyone looked behind the tile is an estimate of the finishes, not of the job. That is why we open the wet areas before pricing, as explained on our full remodel page.
