Bathroom remodeling in Casa View's mid-century houses
Casa View's 1950s and 1960s houses sit east of White Rock Lake, and their small original bathrooms are some of the most practical rooms we rebuild in East Dallas.

D&T Contractor Services remodels bathrooms in Casa View, east of White Rock Lake, from its Bryan St service office. The neighborhood is mostly mid-century single-family houses with compact bathrooms, so the work is small bath remodels, tub-to-shower conversions, vanity and storage updates, and supply lines replaced when the old pipe is found behind the wall.
Casa View bathrooms
Casa View grew up in the 1950s and 1960s as a neighborhood of single-story brick houses for young families, with a hall bath and, in the larger plans, a small second bath off the main bedroom.
Those rooms were built small: a five-foot tub, a narrow vanity, and very little storage. Most of our Casa View work is about making that footprint work harder, with a better shower, a vanity that holds things and lighting that suits the room.
Mid-century homes, half owned
Casa View has about 35,600 residents. Nearly two thirds of its homes are detached single-family houses, half are owner-occupied, and the median year built is 1965. That makes it one of the larger stocks of original mid-century bathrooms in East Dallas, many now on their second or third owner and ready for the first real remodel since they were built.
What we find in Casa View bathrooms
A Casa View hall bath usually has a tub with wall tile on three sides, a pedestal or small vanity, and a medicine cabinet over it. Behind the tile we often find the original supply lines and a wall that has absorbed decades of shower water.
Small bathrooms reward careful planning. A walk-in shower with a glass panel instead of a curtain makes the room look larger, a wall-hung or deeper vanity adds storage, and a recessed cabinet between studs keeps the counter clear.
When the second bath is a half bath, owners often ask whether a shower can be added. Sometimes it can; it depends on the space and where the drain can run, which we check on the walkthrough.

Usually, yes. A five-foot tub space converts well to a walk-in shower, and a glass panel instead of a curtain keeps the room feeling open.
Sometimes. It depends on the floor space and where the new drain can run. We check both on the walkthrough before quoting.
If the walls are open and the supply lines are original, replacing them then costs far less than opening the walls again later.
Yes. Recessed medicine cabinets, deeper vanities and niches in the shower add storage without taking floor space.
Yes, across northeast Dallas, including Casa Linda, Lake Highlands and out to the Mesquite and Garland lines.
