Bathroom lighting installation in Dallas: vanity, recessed and safe outlets
Good bathroom light means no shadows on your face at the mirror, a bright shower, and outlets that are safe near water, all on permitted circuits.

Fixtures and controls we install in Dallas bathrooms include Kichler and Hinkley vanity lights, Halo and Juno recessed cans, and Lutron and Leviton dimmers.
Bathroom lighting installation in Dallas covers vanity and mirror lighting, wet-rated recessed cans over the shower, and GFCI-protected outlets and switches, under a Dallas electrical permit with inspection. Swapping a fixture on an existing box is quick; new boxes, cans or circuits mean opening the ceiling or wall and scheduling the inspection.
Why most bathrooms are lit wrong, and how we fix it
The usual builder bathroom has one light bar above the mirror and one ceiling fixture. That throws shadows under your eyes and chin at the mirror and leaves the shower dark.
The fix is layered light. Sconces on each side of the mirror at face height light you evenly; a wet-rated recessed can over the shower lights the part of the room you use with your eyes closed; a dimmer, from Lutron or Leviton, turns it down at night.
Every outlet in a bathroom belongs on GFCI protection, and new circuits, boxes and cans go in under a Dallas electrical permit, inspected before the drywall is patched and painted.

The three lighting jobs we do in Dallas bathrooms
Vanity and Mirror Lighting
Side lighting beats overhead lighting at a mirror. We center a pair of sconces on the mirror at roughly eye height, or on each side of each mirror on a double vanity, which usually means moving or adding boxes in the wall. Where the mirror is wide or the wall has no room for sconces, a long fixture above the mirror works, mounted high enough to clear the frame. A lighted mirror is another option, powered from a box set behind it during the wall work.

Recessed Lighting and Shower-Rated Cans
Recessed cans give general light without anything hanging down, and a can over the shower or tub has to be rated for wet locations with a sealed trim. We lay out cans so they light the vanity, the shower and the toilet area rather than the middle of the ceiling, check joist direction and attic insulation before cutting, and use IC-rated housings where insulation touches the can. Slim canless LED fixtures from Halo or Juno fit tight ceilings and need less cutting.

GFCI Outlets and Switch Upgrades
Bathroom outlets need ground-fault protection, which cuts power in a fraction of a second if current leaks toward water. Older bathrooms often have a single ungrounded outlet or none by the vanity. We add or replace outlets with GFCI protection, place them where you actually plug in a dryer or toothbrush, and replace worn switches with dimmers, timers or a combination switch for light and fan. Where the bathroom shares a circuit with other rooms, we look at giving it its own.
What decides the cost of bathroom lighting
Fixtures are the visible part; the wiring decides the bill.
Existing boxes or new
Swapping on existing boxes is quick; new boxes mean wall or ceiling work.
Number of cans
Each recessed can adds cutting, wiring and a trim.
Attic access
Easy attic access makes ceiling work faster.
New circuit
A dedicated circuit adds a run from the panel.
Dimmers and controls
Dimmers, timers and smart switches cost more than plain switches.
Patch and paint
Opened walls and ceilings are patched and painted.
Electrical permits for bathroom lighting in Dallas
The City of Dallas requires a permit for electrical work, and the rules that let a homesteading owner do some plumbing themselves do not extend to electrical. So new boxes, recessed cans, moved switches or a new circuit in a Dallas bathroom are permitted and inspected before the walls or ceiling are closed. Replacing a fixture on an existing box is simpler, and we will tell you which side of that line your project falls on.
