Bathroom flooring replacement in Dallas, starting with a solid subfloor
A bathroom floor fails from underneath, so we fix what is under it first: rotted subfloor, a cracked slab or a toilet flange at the wrong height.

Flooring we install in Dallas bathrooms includes Daltile, MSI and Marazzi porcelain and COREtec, Shaw and Mohawk waterproof vinyl.
Bathroom flooring replacement in Dallas removes the old floor, fixes the subfloor or slab underneath, and installs porcelain tile or waterproof luxury vinyl, usually two to four days. Dallas homes often need 300 to 800 dollars of subfloor reinforcement around an old tub or toilet in market data, so we check under the floor before quoting the finish.
What a bathroom floor replacement involves
The toilet comes out, the vanity toe kick is protected or the vanity pulled, and the old floor comes up. That is when the real condition shows: soft plywood at the toilet flange, a dark ring where a wax seal leaked, or a hairline crack running across the slab.
Those get fixed first. Wood subfloor is cut back and replaced, a cracked slab gets a crack-isolation membrane, and a floor that is out of flat is leveled. The toilet flange is raised to meet the new floor height so the seal lands right.
Then the finish: porcelain tile such as Daltile or Marazzi, or a waterproof vinyl plank like COREtec where a faster, warmer floor makes sense.

| Install time | Two to four days with prep | Often one day after prep |
| Subfloor needs | Flat and stiff, no flex | Flat; tolerates a sound slab |
| Lifespan | Decades | Shorter, easy to replace |
| Inside the shower | Yes | No |
The three flooring jobs we do in Dallas bathrooms
Porcelain Tile Floors
Porcelain is the longest-lasting bathroom floor: waterproof on its own, hard-wearing, and available in wood-look planks, stone looks and patterned encaustic styles. It needs a flat, stiff base, so wood subfloors are checked for flex and slabs for cracks, with an uncoupling membrane where the slab moves. Tile is set with full thinset coverage, grouted and sealed, and runs under the toilet rather than around it. It takes longer than vinyl, and the result lasts as long as the house.

Luxury Vinyl Plank and Tile
Rigid-core luxury vinyl clicks together as a floating floor, is waterproof on the surface, feels warmer underfoot than tile, and goes in fast, often in a day. It is a good fit for guest baths, rentals and floors over a slab that is sound but not perfectly flat. Seams at the tub and shower are sealed with silicone and the edges finished with trim, because water that gets under a floating floor can sit there. It is not a fit for inside a shower.

Subfloor Repair Before the New Floor
Soft spots at the toilet or in front of the tub mean water has reached the subfloor, usually from a failed wax ring or a tub drain. We cut back to solid wood, check the joists for rot, sister any damaged framing and install new plywood glued and screwed down. On a slab, a crack is cleaned and covered with a crack-isolation membrane so it does not telegraph through the new tile. Nothing new goes down until the base is dry, flat and stiff.
Planning range, subfloor reinforcement before a tub replacement (Blackland clay): $300 to $800.

What moves the price of a bathroom floor
Square footage is small in a bathroom; the prep is what varies.
Planning range, subfloor reinforcement before a tub replacement (Blackland clay): $300 to $800. Market data, not a quote.
Tile or vinyl
Porcelain costs more to install than a floating vinyl floor.
Subfloor condition
Soft or rotted subfloor adds repair before any finish.
Slab cracks
A crack-isolation membrane adds material and a step.
Leveling
Out-of-flat floors need self-leveler, especially for large tile.
Toilet and vanity
Pulling a vanity costs more than working around the toe kick.
Pattern
Herringbone or patterned tile adds cutting.
What Dallas soil and older plumbing do to bathroom floors
Blackland clay under Dallas homes moves with the seasons, and floors around old tubs and toilets often need 300 to 800 dollars of subfloor reinforcement once they are opened, according to Dallas market data. Older homes here may also still have galvanized supply lines at the toilet and vanity, which we replace while the floor is up. With Dallas homes ranging from brand new to far older, we open the floor before we promise a finish date.
