Shower leak repair in Dallas: find the source, stop the water, fix it properly
A stain on the ceiling below or a soft spot by the curb means water is getting somewhere it should not. We find out where before anyone opens a wall.

Shower leak repair in Dallas starts with isolating the source: the pan and liner, the valve and supply connections inside the wall, or failed grout and caulk at the curb and corners. We test each one before opening anything, then repair the source and dry the area. Phones are answered 24 hours a day for active leaks.
Where shower leaks actually come from
Shower leaks usually start in one of three places, and each needs a different fix. Guessing wrong means paying for a retile and still having the stain.
The pan is the most serious: water gets past the liner or a cracked base and soaks the floor underneath. The valve and supply lines leak only when the water is on, often into the wall behind the handle. Grout and caulk leak when water runs down the wall and finds an open joint at the curb or a corner.
We test them separately. A flood test isolates the pan, running the valve with the drain plugged isolates the supply side, and spraying only the walls isolates the tile.

The three shower leaks we repair
Failed Shower Pan or Liner
When the flood test drops or a stain appears below with the valve off, the pan is failing. The liner may have been cut too short at the curb, punctured by a fastener, or never sloped to the drain. There is no reliable patch for a failed liner from above: the floor tile and mortar bed come out, the subfloor or slab is checked and dried, and a new pan is built and flood-tested for 24 hours before tile goes back. Wall tile can often be kept.
Planning range, shower installation in Dallas: $6,490 to $12,365, average about $8,923; prefab as low as $500, large luxury builds up to $16,000.

Valve Leak Inside the Wall
A valve or supply connection leaks only under pressure, so the telltale is dampness that appears while the shower runs and dries between uses, often on the other side of the wall. We open the wall from the least visible side, usually a closet or the adjoining room, rather than through the tile. A failed cartridge is replaced; a cracked valve body or corroded connection means a new valve. Every connection is pressure-tested before the access is closed and patched.
Planning range, shower fixture set (faucet and head): $50 to $900.

Grout and Caulk Failure at the Curb
The least serious leak, and the first one worth ruling out. Water runs down the walls and gets into a cracked grout joint or a split caulk line where the wall meets the curb or the floor. Left alone it wets the board behind the tile and eventually the framing. We cut out the failed grout and caulk, let the area dry, regrout, reseal and re-caulk with the right silicone at every change of plane. If the board behind has softened, that section is replaced first.

How long a shower leak repair takes
Finding the source takes a visit; the repair time depends on what we find. Grout and caulk repairs usually finish the same day, with the shower back in use after the sealant cures. A valve repair from the closet side is typically a day plus patching. A failed pan takes longest: demolition, drying, a new pan, a 24-hour flood test and retiling the floor, usually spread over several days.
Why a small shower leak matters more in Dallas
Hidden water damage, mold and rotted subfloor are the usual surprises once a leaking shower is opened, and older homes in North Dallas and Plano often add outdated plumbing behind the wall. About one Dallas home in seven was built before 1950, and older homes show physical problems far more often, so a slow leak in an older house has usually been at work for a while. We check the framing and floor around the leak, not just the tile.

Call nowWhat decides the cost of a shower leak repair
The source decides the bill. These six items move it most.
Which source
Grout and caulk cost least; a pan rebuild costs most.
Access
Opening from a closet side is cheaper than removing tile.
Damage found
Wet framing, subfloor or ceiling below add repairs.
Drying time
Wet material has to dry before it is closed up.
Valve parts
A cartridge costs little; a new valve body costs more.
Tile match
Matching old tile for a patch can mean a partial retile.
Shower leak questions we get at all hours
Something else? Call and ask, any hour.
If water is reaching a ceiling, a wall cavity or the floor, stop using the shower and call.
Not until the source is known; every use adds water to the leak.
Flood-testing the pan, running the valve with the drain plugged and spraying the walls separately.
Not usually; grout and valve leaks are local repairs, and a pan leak can often keep the wall tile.
A day for grout and caulk; several days for a pan, including drying.
Only if the caulk joint was the source; we test before sealing.
Yes, once the leak is fixed and the area is dry; see ceiling repair.
